Music On My Mind, Christmas Edition

I love music. I’ve got headphones on a lot of the time, whether I’m writing, exercising, cleaning, traveling, or doing pretty much anything solo. It makes me happy and helps me focus. Every month, I share five tunes I’ve been listening to in a series called “Music On My Mind.” Check out December’s list, and tell us about a song you heard recently in the comments or in a private message to me!

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Judy Garland

I love Judy Garland, and this song is my favorite Christmas song. Judy was the first to ever sing this classic. I think this song communicates the real mix of sadness and hopefulness of the holidays perfectly.

White Christmas – Bing Crosby

Who doesn’t love this version? I could listen to Bing Crosby sing this a thousand times and never get tired of it. To be fair, I could listen to Bing Crosby sing the dictionary and never get tired of it.

Grown-up Christmas List – Amy Grant

There is music that my parents had playing in the background every year while we made cookies, decorated the tree, or opened our stockings. I’ll always associate these songs with those memories, and it doesn’t feel like Christmas for me until I hear them. This is one of those songs.

Sweet Christmas Birth – Brian Barrett

One of the cds my parents played was called “Celebrate The Gift,” and it was a holiday collaboration between a bunch of early 90s Christian artists. This song is my favorite from that album.

Skating – Vince Guaraldi Trio

Everything related to A Charlie Brown Christmas is magical, but this track makes me happy every time.
